If you are planning to become a PAF airman, the 2026 announcement is the best picture we have of what the next one will ask for. Online registration for airmen jobs ran from 6 to 19 July 2026, so that window has closed. What follows is what was published for the trades, the education and age rules, and the physical test, so you can prepare before the next notice.
The details come from Daily Pakistan and ProPakistani. We could not open the PAF website itself, and the two reports do not agree on every point, so confirm everything on the official advertisement.

PAF airman trades in 2026
The announcement listed eight trades: Aerotech, Aerosupport, PF & DI, Security, MTD, Fire Fighter, Medical Assistant and Music. Only Pakistani male candidates could apply, and most categories asked for unmarried candidates. Pick your trade first, because the education, age and height rules all depend on it.
Eligibility for each PAF airman trade
Daily Pakistan printed the following figures. Where it gave none, we say so rather than fill the gap.
- Aerotech: age 15½ to 19. Matric with science subjects and at least 65 percent, with specified marks in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English (the thresholds are not printed).
- Aerosupport: age 17 to 20, with the same education requirement as Aerotech.
- PF & DI: age 16½ to 21, minimum height 178 cm, and 6/6 eyesight without glasses.
- Security: age 17½ to 21, minimum height 175 cm.
- Medical Assistant: at least 70 percent in Matric with Science and Biology.
- Music: Matric in Science or Arts with at least a second division.
- MTD and Fire Fighter: age limits exist but were not printed. The reports mention LTV and HTV driving licences without saying whether you must hold one.
ProPakistani describes the age range more loosely, as roughly 15½ to 21 depending on the trade. That fits the figures above. Always trust the age printed for your trade in the official notice.

How to register as a PAF airman
- Go to the PAF recruitment website, joinpaf.gov.pk. Type the address yourself.
- Choose the airmen category and the trade that matches your marks and height.
- Fill in the form carefully. ProPakistani warns that wrong information can lead to disqualification during verification.
- After registering, candidates are called to their nearest PAF Information and Selection Centre. The centres named are in Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi, Peshawar and Quetta.
What the PAF airman selection looks like
The two reports describe it a little differently, so read both as a rough sequence rather than a fixed order. Daily Pakistan lists an intelligence test and computer-based written exams in English, Physics and Mathematics, followed by physical tests. ProPakistani adds an initial medical examination, an interview and a final medical before merit selection, and says the process may include these stages.
The physical tests printed by Daily Pakistan are specific, which makes them the easiest part to prepare for:
- One mile in 8 minutes
- 15 push-ups in 2 minutes
- 20 sit-ups in 2 minutes
- 3 chin-ups in 2 minutes

Documents and what you get
You need to bring the original detailed marks certificate (DMC), your CNIC or Form-B, and passport-size photographs to the tests. The benefits listed in the report include free food, accommodation and medical care, allowances during and after service, educational support for children, and subsidised Hajj travel. It does not give a salary, so do not rely on any figure you see in a social post.
Preparing before the next notice
If you are close to the minimum height or you need glasses, find out now, because those two rules cannot be changed by preparation. For the rest, build a routine around the four physical tests above and practise the Matric science subjects the written test uses. For a general way to plan study time, our MCQ test study plan works for any written test, and the Army guide on how to join Pakistan Army as a soldier covers a similar fitness and paperwork journey.
A few common questions
These are the questions we expect most from people planning to apply as a PAF airman.
Can women apply as a PAF airman?
The 2026 reports describe the airmen recruitment as open to male Pakistani citizens, and most trades required candidates to be unmarried. Check the advertisement for your trade before you apply.
Is the PAF airman registration still open?
The 2026 window ran from 6 to 19 July and has closed. Registration is online at joinpaf.gov.pk, so check that site for the next airmen notice.
Do I need a driving licence for MTD or Fire Fighter?
The reports mention LTV and HTV licences for those trades but do not say whether one is compulsory. Read the trade line in the official advertisement.
What if I come from Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan or the former FATA?
The reports say candidates from underdeveloped areas of these regions get reduced requirements for overall Matric marks and English marks, but they do not print the numbers. The advertisement will.
Mistakes that cost a PAF airman applicant a place
Many of them are decided before the test. Applicants choose a PAF airman trade whose height or eyesight rule they do not meet, for example PF & DI with its 6/6 vision without glasses, or they apply without the exact Matric marks the trade asks for. Read your trade line twice and compare it with your certificate and your own measurements.
The second mistake is training for the wrong thing. If you are aiming to become a PAF airman, practise the four timed physical tests exactly as they are written, with a timer, rather than just going for a long run. Being able to do the push-ups and sit-ups on a clock is a different skill from general fitness.
